Organizational Goals. Strategic and Operational.

Week 2 DQ # 3- What factors should you consider in
determining an organization’s goals? How would you decide which strategic and
operational plans to use to achieve your goals?

An organization should consider various factors in determining their goals.
These factors include but are not limited to in exhibit 8-1 of Robbins and
Coulter. Planning, Breadth, Time Frame, Specificity, and Frequency of Use. They
are then broken down into strategic and operational, long term and short term,
directional and specific, finally single use and standing. These are goals the
organization has to implement as targets and how they are planned out. Its
simple in fact the goal that a business needs to meet are profits. They are
specified through this chart and careful planning.
“Strategic Plans apply to
the entire organization and establish the organizations overall goals. Plans
that encompass a particular operational area are called Operational
Plans”(Robbins and Coulter 8-1). The strategic ones work for everyone in the
company like greeting everyone with a smile, saying happy holidays, informing
the customer where to find items in the store. The operational plans work for
specific areas such as consumer discounts, when items go on sale, and if the
items aren’t in that day they can receive a raincheck and still get it for the
same price.
